Somebody just called,a little while ago,to tell me about a show on TV.I only caught the last few minutes of it.He said it will be on again at 10:00.The showw is the Drs,or The DR Is In.Talking about desperate parents needing help for their children. Many seem to be malnourished, due to malabsorbtion problems. Many kids helped with this.My son eats all the time and doesn`t grow.He was failure to thrive. It took forever to get him to 20lbs.Then to 40lbs.I have been giving him tons of supplements for about 10 years, and I think that has helped. He is growing taller, but still has no meat on his bones.I want to try this. Not sure where or how to get it.Maybe,My daughter that won`t eat needs some to.

If there is malabsorption, I would try to find out if there are serious food allergies or intolerances, what if your child has celiac? Try to eliminate the possibility of this before going to medicine & drugs. Is you child already taking medication & is the medication interfering with appetite & absorption of nutrients? I'm very wary of marijuana because it is so much stronger than the old days when we used to smoke it in high school. It is ridiculously strong & bad for the brain, has been linked to development of psychosis. Be very careful & look at other possibilities first, please!

He has been on a gluten free, casien free diet for nearly 11 years. He has tons for food intolerances. To the point,I don`t know what to feed him.I think he has problems with silicates, and oxalates,He is not on any meds, though he was when he was younger on antibiotics a lot,and seziure meds. The boy wants to eat all day long, and it goes in one end,and back out the other.Trying to heal his gut issues for nearly 11 years.I think this is a common problem in low functioning kids, and probably some high functioning as well.He is skin and bones.

Have you ever stopped to think that maybe he's getting too many supplements?
Too much of a good thing can be a bad thing.

Autism momma I have been diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis and the essence of that health issue is malabsorption., Once I got my Autism diagnosis I understood the cystic fibrosis, but the primary requirement t for this condition is pancreatic enzymes which are required for malabsorption of nutrients. I rarely use them now because I have found other ways of dealing with this issue but I believe they would work for Justin. Also if he has been on antibiotics he probably needs to rebuild healthy intestinal bacteria with acidophilus also I 'd be giving him a really good quality protein mix like musashi which is essential amino acids. One teaspoon is equivalent to a good sized steak. I know these three wouuld initially be expensive but they last for ever and are all really important for muscle body building and the ability to absorb nutrition. You could probably get the enzymes on medical script, also maybe look at regular parasite treatments as we are very prone to those. Jahki

I have used enzymes,I can`t remember about pancreatic enzymes.Enzymes don`t seem to work. They are good ant inflammatory, but didn`t seem to help him digest.I use probiotics and prebiotics.I have used royal jeeely for the amino acid content.I have never tried musashi, but I`ll give it a try.He has terrible gas,all the time.I have tried fennel, and other stuff for gas,but nothing seems to work.

The gas would be candida wouldn't it ?Are you keeping an awareness of parasites Autism has very high acid system.= parasites I'm dealing with inflammatory problems all the time and have to have a really alkaline diet. The musashi amino acids willbuild his body also maybe look at food combining...carbs and protiens separate etc.

I have tried to get rid of candida.I spent a lot of time and money working on it,only to have the school feed him cereal that had gluten in it.He kept getting ear infections, and I couldn`t figure out why.I couldn`t get him over it with herbs,I normally use,so ended up having to put him on antibiotics again. When I put him on candida diet,he gets so thin,he looks like a skelatin, and i`m sure he has parasites, been trying to get rid of for years.

does he have a doctor? to test for things like CF, celiac, colitis, irritable bowel, parasites, candida? if he does have a doctore, what does the dr. say about it? If he doesn't have a doctor, it seriously sounds like he needs to have one. Because we can't see just how skinny your boy is, none of us can say he's "too skinny", but it's obviuosly enough for you to worry about. I worry about my skinny kid too, but i don't obsess over it because even though it looks "too skinny" to me , doctors & nurses assure me that she's well within the range for her age. a good pediatrician would be able to tell you whether he's seriously underweight or not.

I only have medicaid, and would prefere a DAN doc.I did have one for awhile, but it was all out of pocket. The expensive tests, the supplements.I can`t afford it.He was tested for food allergy`s,and was possitive for every single grain that contains gluten, plus corn, rice. So I imagine he has celiac.I`m sure I do to.I also had him tested for candidia, and treated him through my DAN doc. Then after paying all that money, and time and effort, the school was feeding him cereal with gluten in it,and he kept getting ear infections, and all my hard work and money spent was for nothing. He was so underweight as a baby and toddler,I was being investigated for child abuse or something. What probably saved my but,was when he was being obseverved in the hospital, they began to suspect he had William`s Syndrome. So his dad and I,had are chromosomes tested. He was negative for Williams, but was found to have a chromosome abnormality.A long arm translocation between chromosome 12 and 16,I believe it was.Threw out all the paperwork years ago.At age 5,I read someplace that a wheat allergy can cause loose stools. My son had yellow, foul smelling stools 10 or 12 times a day, plus reflux, common infections, seziures. When I went to my doctor to ask to have him tested for food allergys,he wouldn`t give me a referal. He said that was part of autism.I also asked for a referal to take him to a specialist,to see why he wasn`t growing.I thought maybe he needed growth hormone therapy. The doc wouldn`t give me a referal.I`m through with the freakin idiots.Changing his diet and adding supps, his loose stools cleared up,reflux cleared up.He had that until age 5.Frequent infections went away.He started to finally grow, but still skinny.I hate most doctors with the passion.

I paid out of pocket to have him tested through immuno labs in Fla.possitive for wheat, oat, barley, rye, corn, eggs, milk, goats milk, peanut, rice.I then had him tested through my allergy doc. They did the skin prick, can`t remember the name of the test. When they put it on your back,or something. That only showed milk and peanuts. The Immuno Labs took a blood print.More accurate. This was many years ago,he may have more now,but I can`t afford to pay for the test again. It was over $500 bucks over 10 years ago.Cheaper just to do an ellimination diet, and eliminate the most common, and add them back one at a time,to see if there is a reaction. The reaction may come days later.

Oh my god, wish you could move to Ontario & take your boy to Sick Kids in toronto. What people go through in the states is nuts, please please please empower your government to bring through public health care modelled on what we do here & some of the systems in Europe are even much, much better!!! I could go on & on. Don't let the greed machine keep bamboozling you into thinking that public health care is somehow "taking away your personal freedom" or some such crap. It doesn't. What you say about the school feeding him things that counteract what you are trying to do with his diet, that scares me too. Is there any way you can get the school board to enforce gluten-free only for your child? Good god, nobody can bring a peanut anywhere near a school anymore, can't they respect your child's dietary needs & the fact he's struggling with pretty severe allergies & intolerances?

DAN stands for Deafeat Autism Now.There are a group of doctors in the network. They use dietary intervention, and test for candida, heavy metals, and the use of supplements to treat autism. Many low functioning kids have been helped a great deal with this approach.

I agree holytoledo are healthcare system is all about money.Probably many things are denied to save insurance companies money. Not sure about the plan that our president came up with,as we would have had to pay,and for several years before we could even use the insurance,if I undertand it correctly.Right now, looks as though it won`t go through, but who knows. The school and teacher know more about the gluten free diet for autism now, than when I was first doing for my son 10 years ago.

The Politicians in the US are wealthy worthless people. They do not do what is best for the American people. They work for the Lobbyist. They push the ideologies of the extreme R and L. They are not guided by common sense or decency. In truth I do not believe we could ever have a decent Public Health Plan. There is too much greed and corruption in government. There are too many people here. Sadly the working Middle Class and poor can not afford it. In America the wealthy never pay their share the burden always falls on the Middle Class. They find tax loopholes. We can not support everyone who decides to come here. Our economy is in bad shape. Unfortunately this is the reality.

Charcole tablets are an inexpensive way of dealing with gas, but they have to be taken separate from nutrients because they can destroy some of them.. Don't forget he's gpoing through the adolescent period when they all get skinn any way and he would do an exaggerated version of this..
